Hot and dry weather for the week

While we can't rule out a shower or two by the end of the week, the main weather story remains hot and dry.

NEW ORLEANS —

New Orleans Latest Weather Forecast

We get a whole week of hot summer weather with little to no rainfall. High pressure will expand toward us from the southwest. This will keep the chance of rain slim as a generally downward motion prevails in the atmosphere. This will make it hard for cooling showers or thunderstorms to form.

Afternoons will bring us into the 90-degree range under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Humidity won't be unbearable in the afternoon, but I do think it'll be high in the mornings and high enough during the day that temperatures will feel like 93-98 degrees. Many schools are letting out for summer, so kids and parents should remember to dress cool and drink lots of water. Take it easy if you start to feel tired or faint when exercising and working outdoors.

A weak front will approach at the end of the week, but it doesn't appear it will move through or bring any notable impacts to our area. Expect more 90s and mainly dry weather through next weekend and Memorial Day.
